About

APEC

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a regional economic group that currently has 21 members,
each of which has a separate economy rather than a state.

Its primary goal is to create greater prosperity for its member economies and people by promoting secure,
balanced, sustainable, and inclusive growth and accelerating regional economic integration.

The Republic of Korea(ROK) is one of the founding member economies and joined APEC in 1989.

The concept of APEC was initially introduced by former Australian Prime Minister
Bob Hawke during a speech in Seoul, Korea, on 31 January 1989.

Ten months later, 12 Asia-Pacific economies gathered in Canberra to establish APEC.

As more economies joined, APEC's membership increased to 21 in 1998.

both through the working group directly and through its three networks

across APEC member economies, promoting quality and equitable education to enable people of all ages
to meet the challenges of rapid change in today’s world through enhancing competencies,
